CLIMATE_X

29 September 2023 until 1 September 2024

Everybody knows that sticking to good resolutions is easier said than done. Typically, we know what is best and healthy for us, but changing an old habit can be quite the challenge. The same holds true for the topic of climate change. We know about the floods and droughts. We know about the scientific reports on climate change. We know that this topic affects us all, both on the larger political and economic scales, and in our personal lifestyle. But why don’t we do what we know? The exhibition CLIMATE_X explores this question and presents how we can actually help to save the climate.

Why did we organise an exhibition on communication during the climate crisis? Click here to get an insight into the exhibition.

Collections of the Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunication

Objects tell communication history

The collections of the Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunication document the historical development of the post and telecommunication in their diverse forms. The legal mandate of the Foundation is to develop, collect and present the “development of message transmission and the related bank transactions and movement of people and goods in post and telecommunication,” a mission that has significantly expanded the spectrum of collection areas – up to the multi-faceted manifestations of communication in the present and future.

The Archive for Philately documents the history of philately from the first postage stamps to the latest special-edition stamps. Alongside valuable rarities and freshly printed new editions, the collection includes original designs, proofs and test prints, postal stationery, delivered letters, printing blocks, and dies. The Blue Mauritius is our most famous exhibit.

The Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunication

Our museum’s supporter

The Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunication was established in 1995 during the German federal postal reform. The historical roots of the Foundation and its institutions reach back to the nineteenth century and the founding of the Imperial Post Museum in Berlin. Other post and telecommunication museums were added later, and today the Foundation supports museums in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin, in addition to the Museum for Communication Nuremberg. -> Homepage of the Museumfoundation of Post and Telecommunication
