Comic Scholarship Berlin 2025

This year, the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion has awarded three eight-month work scholarships and a six-month residency scholarship at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

The winners can be seen in the scholarship holder exhibition organised by the Museum für Kommunikation Berlin and the Deutscher Comicverein e. V.: an inspiring exhibition of works with insights into the diverse world of the Berlin comic art scene. Works by previous cultural exchange scholarship holders will also be on display. In a reading corner, visitors can look at copies of the booklets and books created in Paris.

This year’s scholarship holders are: Matías Boettner, Katia Fouquet and Paula Kempker. Clayton Junior will receive the 2025/26 residency scholarship in Paris.

The Paris scholarship holders from previous years are Burcu Türker, Konstantin Potapov, Sophie Artz, Karolina Chyzewska, Kai Pfeiffer, Sheree Domingo Betz and Bianca Schaalburg.In the exhibition THE ONLY MATERIAL, Ukrainian journalists talk about their work. They talk about the dreams that once inspired them and how the war changed them.
