100 Years of Making Calls on the Go. Pop-up Exhibition on the History of the Mobile Phone

History was made on 7 January 1926: for the first time, people made a telephone call on a moving train on the Hamburg–Berlin route. The radio connection between a line running along the tracks and an antenna on the train roof was only a few metres long, but it was considered a technical sensation – and marked the beginning of 100 years of mobile telephony.

Under the title ‘100 Years of Making Calls on the Go’, the museums of communication in Berlin, Frankfurt and Nuremberg are celebrating this anniversary with an analogue pop-up exhibition and a digital presentation.
